Hill View Manor continued to treat and accommodate skilled-nursing patients until it ran into financial difficulties and closed in 2004. But by 1970, the nursing home was severely overcrowded. With little to no support from the county, the director resigned in early 1973.
No other floor's door opened nor did anyone hear an alarm go off to indicate someone had exited from another floor. I've worked in a lot of nursing homes also, still do. I was going into a resident's room to assist her with getting ready for bed.

Hill View Manor Ghost Hunt
Perhaps it’s good old Eli, who is rumored to have had a bit of an alcohol problem and didn’t wake up one morning after a particularly hard night of drinking. The basement storage area holds many objects that belonged to past (or current ghostly?) residents of Hill View Manor. Luggage, furniture, personal items – all stored and waiting to be claimed by those who have passed on. By the end, we had experienced many odd things. After reviewing the video and audio evidence, we concluded that Bell Nursing Home is definately haunted. I will see if i can find anything out history wise.
During a tour with Fort Wayne NBC, the new manager, Nick Carboni, and his girlfriend Angie Sturm said they know it’s haunted. We soon contacted a few paranormal investigation teams and they also saw, documented, and experienced the multitude of unexplained activity here. The boiler room is also in the basement, and many female visitors and staff have reported feeling touched or grabbed by an unseen entity in that area.
Paranormal Quest Bell Episode
I'll call her Sarah for the sake of this story. When I went into the room she pointed out the man who was floating above her bed and asked me if I thought her husband was good looking. I proceeded with getting her ready and out of no where she asked me who the man and woman standing behind me were. I was not about to keep feeding her fantasies so I looked around the room and told her there was no one else but her and I in the room. She kept staring behind me so I finished up and said good night to her, then walked out the door. As I started walking down the hall, I heard Sarah say, and I quote, "Who are you people and what are you doing here. She thinks I'm crazy".
The Lawrence County Home for the Aged remained in operation until the late 1960s when it began being renovated into a skilled nursing facility. The new building also housed the superintendents, Perry and Mary Snyder and their two children, along with twelve staff members. Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, as well as obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days.
I can tell you stories like these are not uncommon amongst nurses and aides who work in nursing homes or hospitals. Residents will see and also talk to people who are not there. Also there has been numerous sightings of a small girl on a bicycle outside the building crying when there is noone around.

For the nearly eight decades that the facility served the Lawrence County community, hundreds of people resided within the walls of Hill View Manor – and many – documented and undocumented deaths – occurred here. Naturally, some died from illness or old age, others by their own hand. The residents were referred to as inmates, and when the facility opened its doors to twenty former residents of the old New Castle City Home, a young boy was among the first to move in. The haunted Hill View Manor in New Castle, PA is a haven for the paranormal.
