Bell Nursing Home LIVE Ghost Hunting- Crazy Paranormal Activity!!

Usually it the sound of a young girl crying that brings a resident to the window and seeing a young girl on a bicycle crying only to disappear when the nurses come in. A friend of mine worked as a nurse in an LTC facility and she would tell stories of hearing people talking in Vacant aprtments and she would go in to check (the resident's aren't allowed to go into the vacant units) and she would find the room empty. I've worked in a few nursing homes and yes there were a few stories of ghosty oldies. I worked in the kitchen and did the evening shift. I worked alone, setting up snacks and cleaning the kitchen. On several occasions, while I was making toast for the evening snack, I'd get the feeling that someone was walking up behind me.

They said he might have still been hanging around, causing mischief. The ~14,000 square foot nursing home had 18 patient rooms each with up to 4 beds, which all still exist on the property today. There is also a dining area, kitchen, lounge area, office area, and full basement.

Boo-k an Experience

The Lawrence County Home for the Aged remained in operation until the late 1960s when it began being renovated into a skilled nursing facility. The new building also housed the superintendents, Perry and Mary Snyder and their two children, along with twelve staff members. Put headphones on or turn up your volume and watch this 20 minute video of evidence found at the bell. You hear names and words being said on the spirit box, rempod hits, and orbs. Since the building was in a serious state of neglect, I spent countless days and late nights there with family and friends cleaning, repairing, and organizing. Thousands went through this embalming room, which at one point was the only one in the Fort Wayne area. The original embalming table and other equipment are still intact. Our first public investigation of 2013 will be held April 5th and 6th, tickets to either night are $25.00 each. The building had been empty since the previous owner’s death in 2006 and had most recently been used as a nursing home, which had been open since the 1960s. Altmuehlsee is according to me the most beautiful lake in the area. I visited it in winter so I can't say what is a service quality.

Paranormal Evidence

Sturm said she was a skeptic a year ago, but after hearing disembodied voices and EVPs while being inside the mansion, she’s since become a believer. After the class, we conducted a ghost hunt inside the Friends museum, and was able to use their equipment. Although we did not use any video recording equipment, we did utilize other equipment to include FLIR, digital voice recorder, voice box, and the Omnius Goggles . We did record several unexplained audio sounds during our EVP session. A friend who works there has been told of ghostly voices and sightings of two male spirits thatappear in a room shortly before the person passes away. Also there has been numerous sightings of a small girl on a bicycle outside the building crying when there is noone around.

It was the end of our shift and we were finishing up our charting when the door from the stairway opened. Now this was a full skilled facility and anyone who's ever worked in one knows that stairway doors are locked and have alarms on them that go off whenever the door is opened to alert staff that a resident may be trying to get out or someone has approached the stairs. We were on the second floor so when the door closed and no one came out, thinking someone was in the facility, we called the first floor and the laundry in the basement to check their doors to see if someone came out of them.

Checking if the site connection is secure

I used to work in a nursing home as a CNA and we had quite a few experiences. Mostly involving disembodied voices, phantom footsteps. One thing I always found facinating were many of the residents would talk about seeing children and within a week the resident that saw the children would die. Almost as if they were having visitors to prepare them for their passing and guide them to the other realm...

You know how you can tell someone was walking up behind you, you can almost feel the floor vibrate a little? In the late 1960s, the building was converted into a skilled nursing home and eventually additions were made to the property so that it could accommodate more patients. Updates were made over the years, and the name was changed to Hill View Manor in 1977. Wane.com explained that the 128-year-old Richardsonian-style building made of Indiana limestone was built between 1893 and 1895. Its first resident was Robert Clark Bell, who died in the home in 1901.

In 1926, Hill View Manor, then known as The Lawrence County Home for the Aged, opened its doors to serve the poor, the elderly and the mentally ill; people who had no one else to help care for them. It was a “poor farm” – the able-bodied residents, called inmates at the time, were expected to work the farmland and in other capacities within the facility. The former mansion has had quite an interesting history, too, so it wouldn’t be surprising if it was haunted.

No other floor's door opened nor did anyone hear an alarm go off to indicate someone had exited from another floor. I've worked in a lot of nursing homes also, still do. I was going into a resident's room to assist her with getting ready for bed.

The girl I spoke with is going to let me know if they have anything else happen.

During a tour with Fort Wayne NBC, the new manager, Nick Carboni, and his girlfriend Angie Sturm said they know it’s haunted. We soon contacted a few paranormal investigation teams and they also saw, documented, and experienced the multitude of unexplained activity here. The boiler room is also in the basement, and many female visitors and staff have reported feeling touched or grabbed by an unseen entity in that area.

I can tell you stories like these are not uncommon amongst nurses and aides who work in nursing homes or hospitals. Residents will see and also talk to people who are not there. Since the minor or major periods do not coincide with a sunrise or sunset this day does not have a heightened peak time rating which would be indicated with a + or a ++ and the text bolding of the included periods. There are many people who believe that there are spirits of a number of former inmates, residents, patients – whatever you wish to call them – and perhaps nurses or other staff members, too – still roaming the halls of this 85,000 square-foot structure. He shared a video from an investigation Olde World Paranormal Society of Fort Wayne conducted inside the building.
